Dinton Park and Philips' House
Dinton Park and Philips House was our second port of call. The parkland is typical of Capability Brown's style and on another day we could walk for miles.
The house is only open on Mondays and only the ground floor is open to visitors. Apparently the upper floors are split into flats and are tenanted. When the house is shut the resiedents use the main rooms downstairs.
The furniture is of limited interest though the library would be worth further investigation if only you could take the books off of the shelves.
There are some good paintings in the drawing room of Venice and two unidentified ones of a courtyard and an archway.
